TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Rogers State women's soccer (2-8-7, 2-6-4 MIAA) fell to Northeastern State (11-6-1, 6-5-1 MIAA) 3-0 on Wednesday at DeLoache Field.
The match began with RSU facing an early challenge as NSU scored in the first minute with a goal by Sydney Taylor, assisted by Gillian Wilson and Annabella Trotter. Despite this initial setback, RSU worked to regain control, earning several corner kicks throughout the half, including attempts by
Kenzie Macklin and
Khari Carreno, though they did not convert these into goals.
Calais Butts played a key role in keeping the deficit minimal, making crucial saves against Taylor and Hannah Anderson. The Hillcats created offensive opportunities but could not find the back of the net. The first half concluded with RSU trailing 1-0, maintaining a close contest heading into the next half.
The second half began with RSU seeking to shift momentum against a strong RiverHawks defense. Butts made a crucial save on a shot by Brynn Baldon to keep the Hillcats in the game. However, NSU extended its lead to 2-0 with a goal by Anderson, assisted by Jaclyn Barritt, in the 51st minute.
RSU continued to battle, with
Hannah Schulze and Macklin each attempting to find the net, albeit unsuccessfully. Despite their efforts, Annabella Trotter scored for the RiverHawks in the 55th minute, with an assist from Taylor, bringing the score to 3-0. Butts remained active in goal, making another save later in the half. The half closed with RSU unable to break through NSU's defense, leaving the final score at 3-0.
The 2025 women's soccer season has officially concluded. RSU will bid farewell to its nine seniors:
