CONROE, Texas – No. 19 Rogers State softball (5-1) closed out the D2 First Pitch Invitational with a 2-0 win over Regis (2-3) on Sunday.

After two scoreless innings, the Hillcats got on the board first with a 1-0 lead in the third inning. With one out,
Lana Gass singled to center and then advanced to second on an error by the centerfielder to put a runner on.
Paxton Donaldson drove her in by following suit with her own single to center.

RSU added a final run in the bottom of the fourth to push out to a 2-0 lead.
Ashtyn Barrett led off the frame reaching first on an error by the shortstop.
McKayla Carney moved her over with an infield single to short. A
Bridgett Morales ground out to third moved the runners into scoring position.
Kaylee Lyon brought home Barrett with a RBI groundout to second.

Jade Sanders (3-0) earned the win working a scoreless 5.0 inning start, scattering three hits with six strikeouts.
Harley Culie (1) earned her first save of the season throwing the final 2.0 innings for the combined shutout, only allowing one hit with a strikeout.

The Hillcats will return to action on Friday, Feb. 9 as they travel to Oklahoma City, Okla. to take on Southern Nazarene in the first game of the Edmond Invitational. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m.
