CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball (10-16, 5-15 MIAA) took care of business as they dispatched Newman in a dominant 59-39 win on Senior Day Saturday.

Two Hillcats finished in double figures in the win.
Alayzha Knapp led all scorers with 26 points to go with four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Alyza Aikins added 10 points with a rebound, an assist and a steal.
Trinity Jackson finished with seven points, seven rebounds, an assist and a steal.

The game began as a defensive struggle as both teams had trouble knocking down shots in the first five minutes. The Hillcats finally found their footing midway through the period and eventually carried a 14-11 lead into the second quarter.

RSU continued to build on the offensive momentum, opening the second quarter on a 7-3 run to go up 21-14 with 4:36 left in the period. They closed out the half on a mini 4-0 run to take a 25-17 advantage into the break.

In the second half, the Hillcats came out on fire as they outscored the Jets 17-5 in the third quarter after starting the period on a 9-0 run. With a 42-22 lead to begin the fourth quarter, they pushed out to their largest margin of the game at 49-28 and again at 54-33. They eventually took the 59-39 victory.

RSU will finish the regular season on the road beginning on Thursday, Feb. 29 as they travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to face off against Central Missouri. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
