Hillcats Fall To Northwest Missouri On The Road

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Rogers State women's basketball (9-14, 4-13 MIAA) came up short on the road in a 59-41 game to Northwest Missouri (19-5, 13-5 MIAA) on Thursday.

Alayzha Knapp led all scorers with 23 points to go with three rebounds and a steal. Kylee Day finished three points shy of a double-double with seven points and 10 rebounds along with two blocks and a steal.

After RSU opened with a brief 2-0 lead, the Bearcats took the game over with an 11-2 run and finished the first quarter with a 16-6 lead. In the second quarter, Northwest continued to roll as they outscored the Hillcats 12-6 in the period and carried a 28-12 advantage into the break.

The Bearcats started the second half with seven quick points to take their largest lead of the game at 35-12. RSU refused to go down without a fight as they went on a 12-4 run to trim the deficit 39-26, but that would be as close they would get with Northwest taking a 46-32 lead into the final 10 minutes. The Hillcat offense went cold again in the fourth quarter as the Bearcats outscored them 13-9 to claim the 59-41 win.

RSU will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 17 as they travel to St. Joseph, Mo. to take on No. 24 Missouri Western. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
