CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (3-12-3, 2-7-3 MIAA) couldn't get the ball to fall in their favor to overcome a 1-0 first half deficit against rival Northeastern State (13-5, 7-5 MIAA) in the regular season finale on Wednesday.
In the first half, both sides spent the early moments trying to feel each other out. However, it was the RiverHawks who exerted the offensive pressure as they outshot the Hillcats 10-3 in the period with four shots on target compared to RSU's two. It would be NSU who found the back of the net in the 38th minute to carry a 1-0 lead into the break.
Things didn't change much in the second half as the RiverHawks again outshot the Hillcats 9-2 with three shots on goal to RSU's one. The Hillcats' best opportunity to score the equalizer came in the 50th minute as
Amaris Jasso fired a shot near the top of the goal only for it to be punched out by the NSU keeper.
This game marked the end of the 2024 season for RSU.
