TULSA, Okla. - Rogers State men's basketball (6-2) stunned Division I Oral Roberts (2-5) in an exhibition game with some late game heroics for the 69-68 decision on Monday.

In a game that featured 11 lead changes, RSU trailed by one point with 10 seconds to play. However,
Sam Davidson hit the game winning layup with seven seconds to play.

"We got off to a great start, and I am so happy for Sam," said Head Coach
Justin Barkley. "Our guys pride themselves on playing for each other, and defended well together tonight. I am proud of our team, and Sam is deserving of a moment like this. A win like this helps us improve, but our focus is to get ready for conference play."

Kofi Hamilton led the team in scoring with 18 points and notched three blocks. Davidson scored 15 points and shot 75 percent from the 3-point line, going three of four. Bernard Omooria scored 10 points and pulled down five rebounds.
Jabryn Anderson also grabbed five rebounds and
Bryce Tillery tallied three steals.Â

In the first half, Anderson hushed the rowdy ORU crowd with a steal and a dunk. However, ORU responded with some big plays of their own. The game went back and forth early, but ORU built a slight five-point advantage with 5:29 to play in the first half, leading 26-21.

Yet the Hillcats closed out the first half on a 13-5 run. RSU took the lead back when Omooria buried a 3-pointer with under three minutes to play. The Golden Eagles knocked down a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer, but RSU carried a 34-31 lead into the break. RSU scored 12 points off 10 turnovers committed by ORU in the period.

The second half saw both teams continue to battle back and forth with the score tied at 43-43 at the 13:41 mark. ORU went on a 13-6 run to take a 56-49 lead with 9:05 left to play. RSU battled back and retook the lead at 64-60 as Davidson hit a shot from deep with 3:50 left.

The Golden Eagles got the lead back 68-67 with 10 seconds remaining. With seven seconds left, Davidson drove into the paint and laid in the game winner with ORU failing to answer as time expired to secure the 69-68 win for the Hillcats.

RSU will take a break for Thanksgiving and return to action on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Claremore Expo Center as they host University of the Ozarks. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m.
