SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Rogers State women's soccer (1-1) fell 1-0 to Augustana (2-0) on Sunday to close out the season opening road trip.
Â
Tiffany Brittan (1-1) made eight saves and only allowed the lone goal.

The Vikings controlled most of the action in the first half as they outshot the Hillcats 11-4, with seven shots on goal compared to just one. Augie immediately went on the attack out of the opening kickoff as they managed four shots on goal in the first 20 minutes. The Hillcats were unable to get many scoring chances as they were smothered by the Viking defense. RSU's best opportunity of the half came in the 38th minute as
Emmy Wagner fired a shot to bottom right corner of the goal only for it to be saved by the keeper. Despite Augie's multiple attempts to score the first goal of the game in the opening 45 minutes, the teams headed into the break deadlocked at 0-0.
Â
In the second half, the Vikings again came out on the attack and took a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the period as Hope Korte found the back of the net off a pass from Annika Bard. They immediately kept the offensive pressure up as they earned two corner kicks and had another shot saved over the next 90 seconds. From there, things devolved into a defensive stalemate as there were only three more shots taken in the remainder of the game. The Hillcats had an opportunity to score the equalizer in the 64th minute as
Morgan Martucci laced a shot toward the upper right corner of the goal but had it saved. Their final scoring chance came in the 72nd minute as a
Sophia Wickenden shot was blocked by a Viking defender.
