RSU Takes Care Of Business In Win Against East Central

ADA, Okla. – Rogers State women's soccer (2-1-1) took care of business in a 4-0 rout of East Central (0-5) on the road on Monday.

Four different Hillcats found their way onto the score sheet in the win. Alix Tirado scored her second goal of the season, while Valerie Hernandez, Amaris Jasso and Sarah Ovalle all netted their first of the year. Morgan Martucci and Delana King both logged assists in the game. Ali Day (1-0) earned her first win and first shutout of the season with 11 saves.

The opening 45 minutes were even as the Tigers barely out shot RSU 13-11 in the period with nine shots on goal compared to the Hillcats' four. Right out of the gate, both teams immediately went on the attack with six shots taken in the first 10 minutes, four of which were on target. RSU finally broke through in the 24th minute as Alix Tirado fired in a shot off a pass from Morgan Martucci to break the stalemate and give the Hillcats a 1-0 lead. The two sides traded shots for the remainder of the period.

In the second half, RSU began to take over as they outshot ECU 9-7 with four shots on goal compared to the Tigers' two. The Hillcats wasted little time adding to the score as Valerie Hernandez found the back of the net 32 seconds into the period off a pass from Delana King to go up 2-0. Amaris Jasso got in on the fun as she scored an unassisted goal in the 54th minute. Sarah Ovalle capped off the scoring in the 65th minute as she blasted an unassisted shot to give RSU the 4-0 victory.

The Hillcats are back in action on Friday, Sept. 15 as they travel down the road to Tahlequah, Okla. for a non-conference matchup against rival Northeastern State. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
