CLAREMORE, Okla. – No. 8 Rogers State (38-9, 15-7 MIAA) split the doubleheader against Washburn (35-13, 14-10 MIAA) on Saturday as the Hillcats honored their three seniors in the final home games of the regular season.

GAME 1 – RSU 6, WU 0

RSU got on the board early and often in the first game of the day jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Nicole Price reached on a fielder's choice with one out and then proceeded to steal second.
Bridgett Morales moved her over to third with a single to left after a battling a nine-pitch at bat. Price then crossed home on a RBI groundout to the shortstop by
Abbey Rogers.

The Hillcats extended their lead in the second inning as they added two more runs to go up 3-1.
Lana Gass laced a ball into right field for a one out single.
Chelsea Spain then earned an eight-pitch walk with Donaldson wearing a pitch to load the bases. Makayla Jackson plated both Gass and Spain with a seeing-eye single through the left side of the infield.

In the third inning, they continued to build the margin out to 4-0 as
Jaylan Gibson drove in
Callie Yelling after an eight-pitch lead off walk.

Marissa Smith homer to straight away center with the wind blowing in in the fifth and a Yellin RBI single to center that scored Price in the sixth gave RSU the 6-0 victory.

Sara Llamas-Howell (19-2) earned the complete game shutout scattering three hits with two strikeouts. Sheyenne Cheek (5-2) took the loss.

GAME 2 – WU 4, RSU 1
Â
The second game looked to be more of the same as RSU again jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the home half of the first as
Paxton Donaldson scored on a fielder's choice.

This time, however, the Ichabods responded with a run of their own in the top of the second off a RBI double down the left field line.

Washburn took its first lead of the day at 2-1 in the third inning with a RBI single to left center, scoring a run from second.
Â
They tacked on two more runs in the fourth to go up 4-1. An error by the second baseman and a RBI single up the middle plated the two final runs.

Neither pitching staff would allow a run in the final three innings, scattering a combined five hits.

Jaycee Ginter (23-7) earned the complete game win.
Jade Sanders (14-4) took the loss after only allowing one earned run with six strikeouts.
Courtney Hill also had a strong showing for the Hillcats finishing the final 3.1 innings out of the bullpen and only allowing one hit with six strikeouts.

RSU will begin the final road trip of the regular season on Friday, April 28 with a stop in Hays, Kan. for a meeting with Fort Hays State. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
