ROLLA, Mo. – No. 8 Rogers State softball (35-8) wrapped up the non-conference portion of the schedule with a road doubleheader sweep of Missouri S&T (16-22) on Tuesday.

GAME 1 – RSU 9, S&T 0 (6 innings)

The Hillcats wasted no time as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Nicole Price singled to short with one out and was brought home by a
Bridgett Morales double to center. Morales then scored on a fielding error by the right fielder.

The game devolved into a pitcher's duel from there with neither starter allowing a run over the next three innings while scattering a combined five hits.
Â
RSU tacked on two more runs in the fifth to go up 4-0. After
Paxton Donaldson walked to lead off the frame,
Bridgett Morales launched a ball over the right field fence for a two-run homer.
Â
They again exploded for five runs in the sixth to seal the 9-0 victory.
Marissa Smith got in on the home run fun with a one out, solo shot to right center.
Samantha Farris later drove in
Lana Gass and Donaldson with a seeing eye single through the left side of the infield. Price scored on a fielding error by the left fielder. Makayla Jackson drove in
Natalie Gonzalez with a single down the left field line for the game's final run.

Sara Llamas-Howell (17-2) earned the shutout win working all 6.0 innings only scattering two hits with five strikeouts. Bryn Wooldridge (7-11) took the loss.

GAME 2 – RSU 6, S&T 0
Â
The second game of the day was pitcher's duel from the opening pitch as both starters pitched a scoreless game through four innings, only allowing a combined two hits over that stretch.

The Hillcats broke the game open in the top of the fifth as they got on the board with four runs.
Bridgett Morales plated
Paxton Donaldson with a single up the middle. Makayla Jackson then brought in
Natalie Gonzalez with a double to center. The MIAA Hitter of the Week,
Callie Yellin doubled to center to score
Bobbi Leitha. Yellin then scored on a fielding error by the second baseman.

Jade Sanders (13-3) earned the win scattering two hits with four strikeouts and combined with
Kaci Phelps for the shutout, with Phelps working the final inning and only allowing one hit. Julia Kanoy (3-6) took the loss.

The Hillcats will return to the Diamond Sports Complex for the start final homestand of the regular season on Friday, April 18 as they play host to Emporia State. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
