RSU Falls To Lady Hornets

EMPORIA, Kan. – Rogers State women's basketball (4-17, 2-13 MIAA) fell 68-43 on the road to Emporia State (11-10, 6-9 MIAA) on Sunday.
 
Bailey Kliewer led the Hillcats posting her second double-double of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds to go with two assists and a steal. Jordan Lewis added nine points with four rebounds, an assist and a steal. Trinity Jackson contributed eight points with six rebounds, two steals, an assist and a block.
 
Emporia State started hot as they opened the game on a 13-4 run. RSU battled to cut the deficit, but still trailed 15-8 going into the second quarter.
 
The final 10 minutes of the half was the most successful period of the game for the Hillcats as they scored 18 points to the Lady Hornets 19 points. After allowing ESU to take their largest lead of the half at 31-19, RSU closed out the period on a 10-3 run, their longest point run of the day, to cut the lead back down to single digits at 34-26 going into the locker room.
 
Unfortunately, the second half was all Lady Hornets as they outscored the Hillcats 16-9 in the third quarter. Things didn't get any better in the fourth quarter as they outpaced RSU 18-8 to take the 68-43 victory.
 
The Hillcats will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 as they wrap up the season series against rival Northeastern State. Tip off is set for 1:30 p.m.
