RSU Falls To Blue Tigers On The Road

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Rogers State women's basketball (4-12, 2-8 MIAA) fell 73-56 to Lincoln (4-11, 2-7 MIAA) on Thursday.

Three Hillcats finished in double figures on the night. Bailey Kliewer and Sydney Ellis led RSU with 11 points apiece. Kliewer earned her first double-double of the season adding a season-high 13 rebounds in addition to a steal. Ellis added an assist. Chloe Martin contributed 10 points with two rebounds.

The Hillcats were on fire out of the gates as they opened with five quick points to open the game with a 5-0 lead. They continued to slowly build up the margin until they took their largest lead of the game at 17-8. However, the momentum started to shift as the Blue Tigers roared to life and closed out the period on a 10-1 run to tie things at 18-18.

LU continued to roll as they began the second quarter on a 13-2 run to take over 31-20. RSU attempted to fight back and managed to trim the deficit to 37-28 going into the break.

Coming into the second half, the Hillcats began to show some signs of life as they started the third quarter on a 7-3 run to cut the lead down to 40-35. Things went back and forth for the rest of the period, but Lincoln was still on top 51-44 going into the final 10 minutes.

The Blue Tigers regained full control of the game in the fourth quarter as the opened the period on a 9-0 run to push back out to a 60-44 margin. Unfortunately, the comeback was not to be for the Hillcats as they were outscored 22-12 in the final period.

The Hillcats will need a short memory as they have a tall task ahead of them on Saturday, Jan. 14 as they travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to face off against No. 5 Central Missouri. Tip off is slated for 1 p.m.
