EDMOND, Okla. – No. 2 Rogers State softball (36-6, 15-3 MIAA) dropped a doubleheader to No. 10 Central Oklahoma (38-6, 17-1 MIAA) on Saturday.

GAME ONE - UCO 6, RSU 2

In the first game of the day, the Bronchos wasted little time as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The run came on a RBI single to left.

The Hillcats responded in the top of the second and took a 2-1 lead. Elexis Watson brought in Lana Gass with a single to right center. Makayla Bowman returned the favor by plating Watson with a sacrifice fly to left.

UCO retook the lead in the bottom half of the second with two runs to go back up 3-2. The first run scored on a RBI groundout to second with the other run scoring on a RBI single to left.

The Bronchos would tack on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to seal the win 6-2. The first run scored on a throwing error by the third baseman with the other two runs scoring on a two RBI double to right center.

Kylee Lynch (19-1) earned the win. M'Kayla Hillman (12-4) took the loss.

GAME TWO - UCO 1, RSU 0

The second game was an absolute pitcher's duel with both starters working the opening two frames without giving up a run.

Unfortunately, UCO broke through in the bottom of the third with a run to take a 1-0 lead. The run scored on a RBI single to left.

Over the remaining three and half innings, neither pitching staff gave up a run and worked to scatter five hits. In total, Rogers State scattered four hits in the game and left five runners stranded.

Bailey McKittrick (4-0) earned the win, with Kylee Lynch (3) earning the save. Andrea Morales (21-2) took only her second loss of the season.

The Hillcats return home on Tuesday, April 19 as they step out of league play for a non-conference matchup against Harding. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
