CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball (2-8, 0-4 MIAA) fell 55-45 to Wasburn (4-4, 1-2 MIAA) on Saturday in the final home of 2022.

Jordan Lewis paced the Hillcats with 16 points and five rebounds with an assist and a block.
Mariana Minotto put up six points with five rebounds and a steal.

The game started slow as it took two minutes before either team scored and another minute before the game's first field goal was made with the Ichabods making a free throw and three pointer to go up 4-0. The Hillcats responded and were able to tie things at 6-6 with a 6-2 run. They closed out the period on a 9-0 run to take their first lead 15-8 going into the final 10 minutes of the half.

RSU managed to build out to their largest lead of the game at 17-10 early in the second quarter. However, WU began to chip away at the deficit as they outscored the Hillcats 13-7 in the period, but RSU managed to hang on to a slim 22-21 advantage headed into the break.

The third quarter began with both sides trading blows with three lead changes and a tie in the first three minutes. The Ichabods came out on top with a 28-26 lead. Things stayed tight for the remainder of the period with WU holding a narrow 33-30 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Hillcats found themselves ahead at the start of the final 10 minutes as opened the period on a 7-2 run for a 37-35 lead. Unfortunately, the Ichabods countered with an 11-1 run to go back up 46-38 with 4:33 left. RSU fought but thanks to fouls and free throws down the stretch Washburn closed out the game on a 9-4 run for the 55-45 win.

RSU will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 17 as they travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to face off against rival Northeastern State in the final game before the Christmas Break.
