CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State softball picked up an important doubleheader sweep of Emporia State in a key MIAA matchup Friday evening at the Diamond Sports Complex.
GAME ONE
Rogers State 6, Emporia State 1

How It Happened
- The Hornets would score the first run of the game in the first inning, as they scored off a single through the right side following a walk and a wild pitch that put the baserunner in scoring position.
- The Hillcats answered with a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning, as Danielle Day smashed a 1-1 pitch over the left field fence.
- Later in the first inning, an RBI single up the middle from Elexis Watson would bring around Abigail Taylor for the third run of the game for the Hillcats.
- In the bottom of the second inning, Jaylan Gibson would add to the Hillcat lead as she hit a two-run home run of her own over the center field fence to give the Hillcats a 5-1 lead.
- Rogers State would add a run in the fifth inning, as pinch runner Kimberli Presnell would score the final run for the Hillcats on a Lana Gass RBI single to center field.
Game Notes
- Day finished the game 2-for-3 from the plate with two RBIs and a run scored.
- Gibson finished game one 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.
- Gass finished the game 2-for-3 from the plate with an RBI.
- Reding, Presnell, and Sabrina Anguiano each had a run scored in the game as well.

How It Happened
- Reding got the scoring started for the Hillcats in game two with a solo home run over the left field fence in the bottom of the first inning.
- Later in the first inning, Taylor would hit a towering three-run shot to left field with Makayla Bowman and Day on base to extend the Hillcat lead to 4-0.
- The Hornets would get on the board with an RBI single in the second inning, but it would be their last run of the day.
- In the bottom of the second inning, with Sabrina Anguiano on base, Brielle Tyseling hit her first career home run as she hit a 1-0 pitch over the fence in left to extend the Hillcat lead to 6-1.
- The final Hillcat run of the game came in the sixth inning, as Anguiano hit a solo home run to left center.

- Anguiano was a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate in game two with two runs scored and an RBI.
- Taylor finished game two 1-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.
- Reding, Bowman, Day, and Tyseling each had runs scored.
- Hillman picked up her seventh win of the season, as she allowed just one run in seven innings pitched.
