TOPEKA, Kan. – Rogers State baseball dropped the opening game of its MIAA series with Washburn Saturday afternoon at Falley Field.

How It Happened
- After a scoreless first inning, Brandon Bradshaw gave the Hillcats the lead with a solo home run to left center to lead off the innings.
- The Hillcats would load the bases in the inning, but stranded them full without plating another run.
- Brett Karalius was dominant on the mound early, allowing just one hit in the first three innings.
- In the top of the fourth, the Hillcats added two mote runs on a bases loaded single up the middle by Prescott Horn that scored Victor Ceniceros and Kyle Simms, giving Rogers State a 3-0 lead.
- However, the hosts would answer back in the bottom of the fourth inning, leading off the inning with three-straight hits, including an RBI triple and an RBI double. Washburn would tie the game later in the inning with a run scored from third on a wild pitch.
- After a scoreless fifth inning from both teams and a scoreless top of the sixth from the Hillcats, Washburn took the lead in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to score a runner from third.
- Washburn would add another big inning in the seventh, scoring four runs. The first came on an RBI single with a runner on third.
- A few batters later, the Ichabods had a three-run home run to go up 8-3 and cap the scoring for the game.
Game Notes
- The Hillcats were outhit 10-5 in the game, but Rogers State worked six walks.
- Rogers State stranded eight baserunners to just four by Washburn.
- Brooks Betcher had the only multi-hit performance for the Hillcats, going 2-for-3.
- Mason Harvey and Ceniceros had two walks each in the game.
- Bradshaw was the only other Hillcat to reach twice safely in the game with his homerun and a walk.
- Brent Dickey and Case Woodard each had hitless and scoreless outings out of the bullpen for the Hillcats.
