CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State softball dropped a pair of conference games on Friday to the visiting Missouri Western Griffins at the Diamond Sports Complex.
GAME ONE
#12 Rogers State 1, Missouri Western 4

How It Happened
- The Griffins started the scoring at the top of the first inning with a two-run home run from Sydney Hawkins.
- The Hillcats were unable to capitalize at the bottom of the first inning, as Taille Reeding and Elexis Watson were left on base when the inning was retired.
- In the third inning, the Griffins were able to add to their lead with a run, while the Hillcats were once again retired with two runners on base.
- Reding would hit her first home run of the season in the fifth inning to get the Hillcats on the board, but they were unable to score any other runs in the contest.
- Hawkins would once again homer for the Griffins in the seventh inning, and Missouri Western would beat Rogers State 4-1 in game one.
Game Notes
- The Hillcats were held scoreless for the first five innings and held to only one run in the game, while they outhit the Griffins 10-to-6 for the game.
- Reding, Abigail Taylor, and Watson would each finish the game with a pair of hits.
- Andrea Morales had 11 strikeouts in the game.

How It Happened
- A pair of errors in the first inning by the Hillcats led to the Griffins' first run of the game.
- Danelle Day would single down the first baseline and would eventually advance to third from a wild pitch, but the Griffins would retire the inning with Day on third and Taylor on first after Watson grounded out to the shortstop.
- Missouri Western would add a home run in the fourth from Rachel Stewert to extend the Griffin lead to 2-0.
- The Griffins would finish the game strong in the seventh with three runs, capitalizing on another Hillcat error, as they would go on to beat the Hillcats 5-0 in game two of the doubleheader.
Game Notes
- Rogers State would be outhit 6-4 in the game.
- Day went 2-for-2 at the plate in and was also hit by a pitch.
- Hillman picked up her first loss of the season. She had two strikeouts and allowed four hits in the contest. However, Hillman gave up just one earned run in the game.
- The Hillcats have dropped four consecutive games for the first time this season.
