CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 shutout victory over Oklahoma Christian on Senior Day at Soldier Field Saturday afternoon.
Audrey Mawell scored the opening goal and assisted the other to lead the way for the Hillcats (2-0-0), who picked up their sixth-straight victory over the Eagles (0-6-0).
Highlights
- The Hillcats took the lead in the 21st minute, as Maxwell scored less than a minute after substituting onto the field. Kori Watters started the play by putting a cross into the penalty area from the right wing. The cross, which was partially cleared by an Eagle defender, settled for Maxwell about 12 yards out and the junior slotted the ball into the top right corner.
- In the 33rd minute, Oklahoma Christian had a quality scoring chance on a counter attack, with Brianna Concienne forcing a diving save out of Cambree Towle to protect the Hillcat lead.
- The Hillcats doubled their lead in the 34th minute as Maxwell forced a turnover in the final third. From just outside the penalty area, Maxwell played a through ball to Watters, who made a first touch at the penalty spot and then fired a right-footed shot past the diving keeper from about eight yards out to double the Hillcat lead.
- Towle would be forced into another save on Concienne just four minutes into the second half, but it would be the final shot on target for the Eagles in the game.
