NORMAN, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball unofficially got the season under way with an exhibition game against Big 12 opponent Oklahoma in the Lloyd Noble Center on Sunday.
The Hillcats fell 97-33 to the Sooners in the game.
Junior Vanessa Gajdosova led RSU with eight points in addition to three rebounds and a steal. Junior Katrina Christian finished with seven points, four rebounds and a steal. Freshman Kylee Day led the team with six rebounds along with four points and a steal. Sophomore Bailey Kliewer posted two points, three rebounds and steal. Both junior Jordan Lewis and freshman Zoey Whiteley put up one point with Lewis adding five rebounds, an assist, and steal and Whiteley adding two rebounds.
The Hillcats had their best stretch in the third quarter shooting 23 percent from the field. The defense looked its best in the final 10 minutes holding the Sooners to 42 percent from the floor.
In total, RSU finished with 31 rebounds and nine steals as a team.
The Hillcats will play one final exhibition on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla. before officially beginning the 2021-2022 campaign. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Mabee Center.
