Senior Floyd Sets Career High In Season Finale Loss At Emporia State

EMPORIA, Kan. – Rogers State Women's Basketball's season came to a close with a loss to Emporia State in the regular season finale on Saturday, falling 97-69 to the Hornets at White Auditorium.
 
Azaria Floyd, Darian Jackson, and Alicia Brown, the three Hillcat seniors, all played in their final game for Rogers State, with each one scoring in double figures.
 
How It Happened: Emporia State jumped out to an 11-2 lead and the Hillcats never led in the game. Rogers State held with the Hornets, pulling back to a 20-14 deficit at the end of the first quarter.
 
Rogers State would cut the deficit to just four twice in the second quarter before Emporia opened up a lead of 16 points midway through the second with a 15-3 run. The Hillcats would outscore the Hornets 9-5 over the final 3:52 of the half.
 
However, Emporia would use a 16-0 run to begin the third quarter and Rogers State would only be able to close the gap to as little as 17 points in the second half.
 
Key Statistic: Rogers State had 20 turnovers in the game, which Emporia converted to 35 points. The Hillcats had just five points off turnovers.
 
Players of Focus: Floyd led the Hillcats in scoring, finishing with a career high 23 points in her final game.  She also matched a career high with seven rebounds and finished with six assists, one off of her personal best.
 
Jackson finished with a season high 20 points in her final game. She also had eight rebounds in the game and added one block.
 
Brown joined her fellow seniors in double figures, finishing with 12 points. She also had five assists and four rebounds.
 
Up Next: The Hillcats season comes to a close, as Rogers State failed to qualify for the MIAA Tournament. The Hillcats close the 2019-20 season with a 4-24 record, including a 2-17 mark in conference play.
