OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Rogers State Softball dropped a pair of Heartland Conference games to Oklahoma Christian on Thursday, falling 3-2 and 6-4.
In game one, the Hillcats took the lead on an
Allie McFetridge bases-loaded single, as
Tailee Reding and
Mikayla Waggnor came around to score.
Oklahoma Christian would come capitalize on a Hillcat error in the first inning to score a run. The Eagles then tied the game in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly.
The Hillcats were unable to generate anymore offense in game one and then fell in the bottom of the seventh as a throwing error by the catcher on a pickoff attempt allowed the winning run to come home.
In game two, the Hillcats put up two more runs in the first inning. After
Mikayla Waggnor singled,
Danelle Day hit a home run to right field to put Rogers State in the lead.
The hosts would capitalize on another Hillcat error in the third to score their first run of the game and then tied the game with a run in the fourth inning.
Oklahoma Christian would take the lead in the fifth inning, as the Eagles put together a string of hits to score four runs.
Day would get two back for the Hillcats in the top of the seventh. After Waggnor walked, Day hit her second two-run home run of the day, this time to left field.
However, the Hillcats were unable to generate anymore offense in the game, dropping the doubleheader.
Rogers State will return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Missouri Southern for a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. in Joplin, Missouri.
