CLAREMORE, Okla. –
Danelle Day hit a grand slam and
Andrea Morales tossed her second-straight shutout as the Hillcats completed a three-game sweep of Texas A&M International on Saturday with a 4-0 victory at the Diamond Sports Complex.
With two outs and the bases loaded in the second inning, Day hit a grand slam over the right field fence for what proved to be the only runs of the day. It was Day's third home run in as many games as she homered in each game of the series.
With the grand slam, Day also moved into second on the all-time list for RBIs at Rogers State as she now sits at 113.
Defensively, the DustDevils were held scoreless for the entire series as Morales followed up yesterday's shutout with another gem today. Morales allowed just four hits and one walk, while striking out six.
Katelyn Gamble had the only other hit for the Hillcats in the game. However, the Hillcats did have six walks, led by
Tailee Reding with two.
Allie McFetridge,
Sierra Skaggs,
Mikayla Waggnor and Gamble also had a walk.
Rogers State will have over a week off as Thursday's doubleheader against Northeastern State has been postponed due to schedule changes for NSU. The Hillcats are currently slated to return to action on Tuesday, April 9 with a doubleheader at Emporia State.
