OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The Roger State Baseball' teams eight-game win streak came to an end Friday afternoon as the Hillcats fell in a doubleheader to Oklahoma Christian 4-0 and 5-3.
The Hillcats found themselves in a pitching dual in game one as both teams had limited offense until the hosts were ale to plate two runs on a single and an error in the fourth inning.
Oklahoma Christian would then score two more runs in the sixth inning on an RBI double and an RBI single.
Brandon Bradshaw had two hits for the Hillcats in the game, while
Christian Merriwether and
Zack Mann each had a hit.
Corey Murphy picked up the loss, allowing all five of the Oklahoma Christian hits in 5.2 innings pitched. Murphy had two strikeouts, allowing three earned runs.
In game two, Oklahoma Christian would score runs in the first and the second, going up 2-0.
The Hillcats responded as
Grant Farris hit a two-run homerun to left field, scoring Mann, tying the game at 2-2.
The Eagles responded with a run in the third and then scored two more runs in the seventh inning to go up 5-2.
Farris would get the Hillcats one run back in the ninth inning with an RBI single that scored
Dylan Russell. However, the Hillcats were unable to generate anymore offense.
AJ Deason picked up the loss, allowing three runs on five hits in three innings of work.
Jackson Simonsgaard tossed three scoreless innings.
Joey Lucas allowed two runs in two hits and a walk in the final two innings. Lucas finished with five strikeouts.
Rogers State will look to rebound on Saturday, wrapping up the three-game series with a 1 p.m. fist pitch at Dobosn Field.
