EDMOND, Okla. – The Rogers State Softball team fell in their Edmond Regional Festival finale Monday afternoon to Cameron University 8-3, falling one game shy of a sweep through the weekend, going 4-1/.
The Hillcats (6-3) struggled early as an error allowed Cameron (8-3) to score three runs, two of them unearned in the top of the first inning. Cameron would then add a run in the second and a run in the third to go up 5-0.
Rogers State would respond in the bottom of the third inning, using the long ball to get back into the game.

Mikayla Waggnor hit a homerun to left field to put the Hillcats on the scoreboard.
Danelle Day then followed it up, making it back-to-back homeruns, with a shot over the left-centerfield fence.
However, that would be as close as the Hillcats would get, as Cameron and Rogers State played scoreless innings in the fourth, fifth and sixth.
Still trailing 5-3 heading to the seventh, the Hillcats were unable to stay in striking distance as Cameron added three more runs to cap off the scoring.
Bailey Killough picked up the loss, allowing four runs, two earned, on five hits in two innings of work. She also had two strikeouts.
Andrea Morales pitched the final five innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on seven hits. Morales had seven strikeouts.
