CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's basketball team lost to the University of Central Oklahoma 82-59 in the Hillcats first-ever MIAA conference game Thursday night at the Claremore Expo Center.

Central Oklahoma (7-2, 1-0 MIAA) controlled game from the beginning. At the half the Bronchos would have a 14-point lead, going into the break with a score of 39-25.

The Hillcats (2-6, 0-1 MIAA) would come out with a strong run in the second half of the game. Rogers State would go on a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter and close the lead to six points.

However, the Bronchos would not allow the Hillcats to get any closer going on a 10-0 run in response to fuel a 31-18 run over the Hillcats in the fourth quarter.

Alicia Brown would lead the Hillcats in scoring with 18 points in the game. Brown would also finish with 6 rebounds for the night.

Lilly Garner would finish with 11 points and sophomore
Samariah Thompson would finish with 10 points to give the Hillcats three players in double-figures for the game.Â

Darian Jackson would lead the team in rebounds with nine for the game. Jackson would also have seven points and a steal.

The Hillcats were outscored in the paint 40-18 for the game. They would also shoot 38 percent from the field and 42 percent from three-point range.

Rogers State will remain at home and welcome in former Heartland Conference foe Newman on Saturday, as the two teams square off for the first time as members of the MIAA. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Claremore Expo Center.
