Robson Caps Senior Night With Double Overtime Winner

CLAREMORE, Okla.Noah Robson capped off the perfect script to senior night, scoring the double overtime winner to push the Hillcats to a 1-0 victory over rival Northeastern State Friday night at Soldier Field.
 
In the first 30 seconds of overtime, the Hillcats' put together a threatening attack started by Jordan Watson on the right wing. Watson played the ball across and then after a ricochet, Jaxon Pitt was able to get a touch on the ball near the six-yard box before Robson capped off his senior night by smashing the winner just inside the left post.
 
The Hillcats dominated large portions of the game, outshooting the RiverHawks 19-7, but Rogers State was unable to find a breakthrough in regulation or the first overtime.
 
Watson had a pair of early shots on target in the first half, while Michael Turner and Luke Morgan also tested Justin Hinman.
 
Dillon Dean was forced into one save in the first half, stopping Ben Watson's shot from outside the penalty area.
 
In the second half, Flynn Semmerling had the best scoring opportunity, but Dean came up with another key save to earn his fourth shutout of the year. Dean improved to 5-0-0 on the season, with just one goal against for a 0.18 goals against average.
 
In the second half, Robson had a pair of shots saved, while fellow senior Jake Simpson was also denied in the best scoring chance for the Hillcats, being denied from close range. Jordan Watson had another shot saved and also put an effort off the right post in the 72nd minute.
 
Cairo Allen had the only shot from either team in the first half, missing left from inside the penalty area.
 
Rogers State finished with nine shots on goal to just two by Northeastern State. The Hillcats also had eight corner kicks to just two from NSU.
 
Prior to the game, Robson, Simpson, and Chris Sowder were recognized in a senior day ceremony.
 
The Hillcats will return to action next Wednesday, facing Ouachita Baptist at home in an afternoon contest. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Soldier Field.
