Schuldt's Double-Double Leads Hillcats To 65-50 Win At Texas A&M International

LAREDO, TexasLauren Schuldt grabbed her sixth double-double of the season to lead the Rogers State Women's Basketball team to a 65-50 victory over Texas A&M International Saturday afternoon in Heartland Conference play.
 
Schuldt, who had 17 second-half points to fuel a comeback victory for the Hillcats (10-9, 3-3 Heartland), finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds for the game, leading all players in both categories.
 
Texas A&M International (0-17, 0-5) went on an 11-2 run midway through the first quarter and led for all but nine seconds of the second quarter, taking a 31-27 lead into the break.

The Dustdevils would hold the lead until the 2:58 mark of the third quarter when Alicia Brown used a three-point play to tie the game with a layup and a free throw following a foul.
 
That play started a 16-1 run for the Hillcats over the next 6:23 and Rogers State would never trail again, continuing to extend the lead through the end of the game.
 
Schuldt had seven straight points during the run. The senior also finished with a pair of blocks and a steal.
 
Lindsey Byfield was second among all players in the game in rebounds, matching a career high with nine boards. Byfield also had a game high four steals in the contest, matching another career high for the senior.
 
Ke'Aunna Johnson came off the bench to finish second in scoring for the Hillcats. Johnson finished with nine points and two rebounds in 11 minutes.
 
Darian Jackson had eight points and six rebounds in 14 minutes.

Carlye Bohannan had a game high five assists. Desiree Nelson had three assists. Both players had two steals each.
 
Rogers State will now wrap up a three-game road swing with a trip east to Arkansas to take on the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Wednesday evening. The Hillcats and Lady Lions will tip off at 5:30 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center.
