CLAREMORE, Okla. – For the first time in program history, the Rogers State softball team swept Lubbock Christian in a doubleheader with two wins on Senior Day on Thursday (April 19) at the Diamond Sports Complex. The Hillcats earned 9-2 and 2-0 victories over the Lady Chaps.
The Hillcats (32-15, 13-9 Heartland) won their third straight game against LCU (27-13, 16-10 Heartland) this season and with the sweep today wrapped up a five-game season series win and three-game weekend series victory. The three-game slate concludes tomorrow (April 20) with one game at noon.

RSU 9, LCU 2
After allowing a home run in the second at-bat of game one, RSU responded with nine runs to cruise to a 9-2 victory.

Katelyn Gamble tied the score at 1-1 in the second inning with a single up the middle to plate
Sierra Skaggs. The Cats weren't done in the second as
Taylor Santistevan drove in a run with a single to left to put the navy and red up 2-1. An error in the inning allowed one more run for a 3-1 RSU edge after two innings.
In a battle between two of the top offenses in the Heartland Conference, the Hillcats, who lead the league in home runs, totaled their next six runs on three homers.
Allie McFetridge started the stretch with a solo home run down the left field line in the third inning, and
Danelle Day knocked out a three-run homer in the fourth to extend the margin to 7-1.
After LCU doubled to score a run in the fifth, Santistevan hit a two-run home run to left to make it 9-2.
Brake picked up the win on Senior Day, pitching the complete 7.0 innings. She allowed only four hits and two runs with eight strikeouts to move to 13-5 on the season.
Santistevan went 2-for-3 with three RBI in game one. Day was 2-for-4 with three RBI, and Gamble finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Skaggs totaled a 2-for-4 performance in the first game.

Skaggs put the Hillcats up early in the second game with a homer, and starting pitcher
Andrea Morales held the top offense in the Heartland Conference scoreless in the 2-0 victory to sweep the doubleheader.
Skaggs hit a solo home run to centerfield in the second inning to put the Hillcats up 1-0. McFetridge added another RSU run with a single to center in the fifth to score Taylor in the 2-0 win.
Morales shutdown the Lady Chaps in game two. The freshman pitched 6.2 shutout innings with four strikeouts and only six hits allowed. Brake came in for the final out and earned the save to go 1-0 with one save on Senior Day.
Skaggs was 2-for-3 with one RBI in the nightcap to go 4-for-7 in the doubleheader. Six Hillcats registered hits in game two.
