Hillcats Suffer Senior Day Loss, 74-68, to Eagles

CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's basketball team suffered a 74-68 loss to Oklahoma Christian on Saturday (Feb. 24) on Senior Day at the Claremore Expo Center in the regular season finale for the Hillcats.

The game was the final one for three RSU seniors – Nikola Nedoroscikova, Kamry Chamberlain and Jordan Evans. The trio was honored after the game after completing their home careers in the navy and red.

Facing a 13-point deficit entering the fourth period, the Hillcats (10-16, 5-9 Heartland Conference) opened the final stanza with a 13-0 run to tie the score at 58-58 with about six minutes remaining. Darian Jackson started the spurt with back-to-back layups and the margin was only three after a three-point play by Lauren Schuldt made the score 58-55 with 7:30 left in the contest. Schuldt knotted the score at 58-58 at the 5:59 mark.

OC's Addy Clift, who totaled a game-high 28 points, sank a long 3-pointer for a 61-58 edge with 5:42 on the clock. And a three-point play by the Eagles quickly upped the score to 64-58 with less than four minutes remaining.

Jackson pulled the Cats to within three at 71-68 with 36 seconds left after a 3-pointer and a free throw.

Needing a stop, RSU got just that after a Schuldt block and rebound by the Lindsey Byfield. Down three with less than 20 seconds on the clock, Jackson had the ball slip through her hands and OC gained possession and the Eagles ended any chance for the navy and red by making late free throws.

Clift finished with 28 points, going 7-of-15 from the floor and 5-of-10 from 3, including some triples from very deep.

Jackson posted a team-high 24 points, and Schuldt added 17 points and nine rebounds. Byfield tallied nine points, seven rebounds and six assists in 35 minutes.

RSU shot 40 percent (22-55) from the floor and only 16.7 percent (3-18) from 3.

The Eagles finished at 45.5 percent (25-55) from the field.

The Hillcats are the No. 6 seed in the Heartland Conference Tournament and will play No. 3-seeded St. Mary's on Friday (Feb. 24) at 7:30 p.m. at the Union Multipurpose Activity Center (UMAC) in Tulsa, Okla. Coverage will be available on RSU radio 91.3 FM.
