GOODWELL, Okla. – Rogers State softball run ruled Oklahoma Panhandle State 19-3 and 16-1 in Friday's doubleheader at Aggie Field.
The Hillcats totaled 30 hits on the afternoon while setting a program single-game runs record with 19 in game one surpassing the record of 18 set less than a month ago at Southern Nazarene.
GAME ONE
The Hillcats totaled 18 hits on the way to a 19-3 victory as OPSU committed six errors in game one of the doubleheader.
RSU used an eight run third inning to blow past the Aggies in the opening game of the afternoon. Seven of the nine Hillcats in the lineup scored in the inning including two runs by
Mikayla Waggnor as the Hillcats batted around.
The Aggies scored one run in the home half of the inning on an error by the Hillcats' centerfielder after scoring two runs in the first inning to trail 13-3.
The Hillcats posted four runs in the fourth inning beginning on a RBI single down the rightfield line by
Arika Araujo.
Kayla Patterson plated two with a ground rule double and scored on a single by Waggnor to hold a 17-3 lead.
Harli Wheeler hit a two-run shot to right-centerfield in the eighth inning for her third RBI of the game to conclude the record setting first game for the Cats.
RSU scored five runs in the first two innings including three runs coming off the bat of
Taylor Santistevan in the first inning with a homer to centerfield.
Edie Fairchild (3-2) allowed three runs, all earned, in the start in five innings of work and giving up nine hits in the run rule victory.
GAME TWO
A big second and third inning fueled the Hillcats to victory in game two totaling 11 runs on the way to a 16-1 victory.
A two-run home run by
Danelle Day with one out started a six run second inning for the Hillcats. Kaitlyn Gamble reached on an error by the OPSU shortstop and scored on a single by Kenzi Lloyd. Araujo notched her fifth of six RBI on the afternoon with a double down the leftfield line to score Lloyd. Santistevan singled to right field to score two and build the Hillcats lead to 8-0.

Morgen Blanchard opened the scoring and Araujo grounded out to first to score Lloyd.
OPSU tallied its lone run in the home half of the second inning as Darcie Wilson led off with a double and scored on an Anyssa Barbosa single to leftfield to trail 8-1.
The Hillcats took advantage of two errors by the Aggies and used four hits to total five runs and stretch the lead to 13-1 in the third inning.
Gamble scored on an OPSU error in the fourth inning and tallied a pair of runs in the fifth on a Day two RBI single to centerfield for a 16-1 lead.
Araujo went 5-for-8 with six RBI and two doubles while Santistevan went 4-for-7 with eight RBI, one double and one home run.
Megan Rosewell (18-12) earned the game two victory allowing one earned run on three hits in the five inning start while walking one and striking out two.
Rogers State (23-15, 3-8) will close out the Heartland Conference series at Oklahoma Panhandle State (11-28, 0-11) with a 12 p.m. first pitch at Aggie Field. Live video streaming will be available at
