Pittsburg, Kan. – The Rogers State softball team fell in a doubleheader at Pittsburg State on Tuesday night at the PSU Softball Complex.
The Hillcats suffered a pair of short-game losses to the Gorillas as PSU took game one 13-4 and the nightcap 15-0.
The doubleheader was highlighted by a three-run, home run in the top of the fifth by
Katlin Alexander in the opener. It was the Paris, Texas native's sixth round trip of the season. The junior drove in three of the Hillcats four runs in the game with Malory Moss putting the Hillcats on the board in the top of the second with a RBI double.
The Gorillas controlled the opener, scoring runs in all four innings to earn the short game victory. In the nightcap, PSU allowed the Hillcats just two hits while pounding out 15 hits en route to a 15-0, five-inning run-rule.
Bailee Kadera suffered the loss in both games, allowing five runs on five hits with one strikeout in two innings of work in the opener. The junior hurler allowed 12 runs, 10 earned, on 10 hits in the nightcap.
Kylie Guthier and Emmie Robertson each registered complete-game wins in the circle for the Gorillas.
Rogers State (13-27) returns to action on the road on April 23 as the Hillcats take on Dury in Springfield, Mo. at 4 p.m.
