CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's basketball team tallied a convincing 77-53 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Thursday evening at the Claremore Expo.
 
The Hillcat women raced out to a 7-0 lead to start the game and never looked back. The advantage stretched to double figures with a put back by Breanna Burford to push the OPSU deficit to 11 points with 12 minutes to play in the stanza. The double digit lead climbed to 22 points with an 11-1 run capped by a Jackie Bueno jumper. The Hillcats took a commanding 45-21 lead into the locker room at the break.
 
The Aggies opened the second half on a 13-5 run but RSU never relinquished its double digit advantage.
 
The Hillcats were balanced on offense as all 12 RSU players who saw time on the court scored at least one point. For the tenth time this season, Mikaila Newton led the attack with 21 points. She was the lone Hillcat to reach double figures.
 
Sade Tutson led the Aggies with 17 points. OPSU won the battle on the boards 47-40.
 
Rogers State (8-14, 6-8) will return to the hardwood on Saturday as the Hillcats host Lubbock Christian at 1 p.m. The game will be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live and on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
