ODESSA, Texas – The Rogers State women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision at Texas-Permian Basin Saturday afternoon.
The Hillcats struggled to find a rhythm on offense, posting eight shots with four on frame.
Paige Pontarolo took the first shot for RSU in the 10th minute of play but the ball sailed high over the goal.
UTPB countered with a trio of shots on goal but RSU goalkeeper
Tayler Stover kept the Falcons scoreless.
The Falcons used three consecutive goals in an eight-minute time span to take a commanding lead in the first frame. UTPB's Ashley Redwine recorded her first goal of the season, the eventual game-winner, in the 23rd minute of play. She assisted the second goal of the game in the 26th minute as Jasmin Lopez buried a long cross from Redwine.
Kelsey Byrd rounded out the first half scoring for the Falcons in the 30th minute, it was her first goal of the season.
Marlaina Trahant gave the Hillcats their final opportunity before intermission but UTPB goalkeeper Ebony Campbell snagged the save to give the Falcons a three-goal advantage at the break.
UTPB's Lopez capped the scoring in the 77th minute, beating the goalkeeper Taylor Stover one-on-one.
The Falcons took 22 shots in the contest and Stover took the loss in goal for RSU, making eight saves while allowing four goals.
Rogers State (0-13) will continue its road stint Thursday as the Hillcats travel to San Antonio, Texas to take on St. Mary's at 7:30 p.m.
