Women’s Soccer Falls in Home Opener

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's soccer team opened its home portion of the 2014 schedule with a 5-0 loss to Missouri Southern at Soldier Field on Friday night.

The Hillcats controlled the pace of the game for much of the first half with two quality scoring opportunities. The Lion took a 1-0 advantage in the 23rd minute as Taylor Beck headed a cross from Hannah Bomar into the back of the net, just past RSU keeper Teri Cocke on the near post.

MSSU took the 1-0 lead into the locker room at intermission and tallied two quick goals in the second half to turn the momentum of the game in the Lions favor. With a 3-0 advantage, senior Casey Vitale buried a pair of goals to seal the win.

RSU goalkeeper Teri Cocke was tagged with the loss for RSU, making eight saves while allowing five goals on the night while Beth Hammons picked up the win for the Lions with two saves in the shutout victory.

Rogers State (0-4) returns to the pitch on Sunday as the Hillcats host Ouachita Baptist at Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live
