AUSTIN, Texas – The Rogers State baseball team dropped both games of a road doubleheader at No. 7 St. Edward's falling 7-1 in the opener before being shutout of game two 11-0 in seven innings Friday.
GAME ONEThe Hillcats matched the Hilltoppers with seven hits but stranded seven tallying only a single run, coming in the fourth inning.
SEU took an early 3-0 lead in the second getting a lead-off walk on RSU starter
Mason Marquette. Back-to-back RBI triples by Miles Wright and AJ Hermanson highlighted the frame for the Hilltoppers.
The margin stretched to 5-0 as Wes Koenig and Ransom LaLonde connected on home runs in consecutive at-bats for SEU in the third.
The Diamond Cats finally scratched a run across in the fourth cutting the deficit to 5-1 when
Logan Palmer led with a single and scored on a two-out single from

That would be as close as RSU would get as SEU's starter Brannon Easterling allowed one hit over the final three innings securing the complete-game victory, 5-1. Easterling surrendered one run on seven hits striking out six in seven innings of work.
Marquette took the loss for the Hillcats allowing seven runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings while

GAME TWOThe Hilltoppers gained control of the game early scoring once in the first and three in the second off starter
T.J. Law. A lead-off walk again haunted the Hillcats opening the first when Cutter Runte scored on a sacrifice fly for the first run of the game. Koenig's two-run double in the second pushed the SEU lead to 4-0.
A seven-run fifth for the Hilltoppers broke the game open taking advantage of five free passes by RSU pitchers. Koenig added to his impressive day belting a bases-clearing double in the inning to end the scoring with SEU in front 11-0.
Koenig finished game two 3-for-3 with five RBIs while Wright was also perfect at the plate in three attempts with two runs scored and two RBIs. Collin Sherrod remained unbeaten on the mound for SEU picking up his ninth win of the year scattering four hits over six scoreless innings.
