BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Rogers State baseball team recorded just four hits in a 6-0 non-conference loss at Oklahoma Wesleyan, the NAIA's 11th-ranked team, Tuesday night at Bill Doenges Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles took the early lead getting a batter hit-by-pitch with one out before back-to-back singles brought home the first run in the bottom of the third. OKWU added a second run in the inning on a wild pitch by RSU starter Edward Layton.
The Hillcat deficit doubled to 4-0 with the Eagles posting two runs in the fourth as the first three batters singled before a run scored on a ground-ball double play and another crossed on an error. In the fifth, OKWU made the score 5-0 as a one-out walk came around to score on an RBI single.
A two-out bases loaded walk brought the sixth run home for the Eagles in the sixth and OKWU cruised to the mid-week victory.
Eagles' starter Rhett Acker improved to 6-1 on the year holding RSU to four hits over eight innings with J.P. Seifried recording the only extra-base hit on a double down the left-field line. OKWU finished with 12 hits, all singles, against three Hillcat pitchers.
Blake Gipson has two of the four hits for RSU going 2-for-3 from the plate. The Hillcats did turn in a season-high four double plays in the game.

The set opens with a doubleheader Friday at the Diamond Sports Complex with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. All three games can be seen live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
