LUBBOCK, Texas- The Rogers State softball team dropped a 10-0 run-rule decision in the series finale at Lubbock Christian Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Chaps banged out 16 hits en route to the short-game victory over the Hillcats. RSU got in trouble early, as LCU jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first frame with nine hits in the inning. The first seven batters reached base on a hit and Jessica Loiacano highlighted the inning with a three-run home run.
In the top of the second, Taran Threet led off the inning with a double but the Hillcats left her stranded at third base. The Chaps added a run in the second and capped the scoring with back-to-back home runs in the fourth by Ashton Bell and Katera Eltsosie.
Yolanda Rios was tagged with the loss for RSU allowing four runs on four hits in the first inning of the game. Freshman Mikayla McGoldrick made her college debut in the circle in the second inning, allowing two runs on five hits with one strikeout in three innings of work.
Eltsosie registered the win for LCU, tossing four innings, allowing just two hits with six strikeouts.
Rogers State (3-11, 0-3 HC) will return to action on the road Friday with a weekend series in Laredo, Texas against Heartland Conference opponent Texas A&M International.
