CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's basketball senior class led the Hillcats to a 78-54 victory over Oklahoma Panhandle State in their final home game of the season at the Claremore Expo.
Senior Katy Harsen tallied her first double-double as a Hillcat with 14 points and 14 rebounds while adding a career-high five assists to lead RSU. Her senior teammates followed her lead in their final home game at RSU as Adrianna Leatherbury added 10 points and Clarissa Cannon registered seven points and seven rebounds while Taylor Jeff rounded out the group with six rebounds.
Despite struggling to find a rhythm offensively to start the game, the Hillcats never trailed outscoring the Aggies 14-5 over the final five minutes of the opening half to take a 32-18 advantage into the locker room at intermission.
Leading wire-to-wire, the Hillcats added to their advantage quickly in the second stanza as they used a 14-6 run to push their lead to 22 points with 15 minutes to play. RSU held the advantage the rest of the way and cruised to the win. RSU improved from the field in the second half, shooting 86.7 percent from the charity stripe and 46.7 percent from the field with five three pointers.
The Hillcats shared the ball, tallying 20 assists on the night with Kami Bunch registering a game-high six assists. The Hillcats won the battle on the boards, 49-39, with 11out of the 12 Hillcats who saw the court hauling in at least one rebound.
Rogers State (9-16, 6-13) rounds out the season on Thursday, February 27 as the Hillcats travel to the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith at 5:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live and on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
