CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's basketball team fell to Heartland Conference foe Oklahoma Christian 90-77 on Saturday afternoon at the Claremore Expo.
The Hillcats and the Lady Eagles knotted the score 12 times throughout the game but a scoring drought for RSU at the six minute mark led to its demise. OC used a 14-3 run over a four minutes span to take a 78-66 advantage with 1:42 remaining in the contest. The Hillcats played catch up the rest of the way as sharp shooting at the charity stripe sealed the win for the Lady Eagles.
Neither team held much of a lead in the first stanza as the teams traded buckets and knotted the score seven times. The Eagles tallied consecutive buckets to end the half and took a 33-30 lead into the locker room at the break.
Clarissa Cannon led the Hillcats in scoring for the third time this season with 21 points and nine rebounds. Katy Harsen registered 20 points and Mikaila Newton scored 17 points to round out the double digit scorers for the Hillcats.
Sydney Hill tallied a game-high 22 points to lead OC. The Lady Eagles edged RSU on the boards 40-38.
Rogers State (4-10, 1-7) returns to action on Thursday, January 9 at Newman (Kan.) in Wichita. The game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM and on www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
