CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's soccer team battled St. Edwards to a 1-0 loss on Saturday night at Soldier field.
Despite several close calls though out the first half, the Hillcats were able to keep the Hilltoppers scoreless in the opening stanza thanks to several impressive saves by RSU goalkeeper Jordan Harris.
SEU blasted 29 shots in the game but the RSU defense fended the Hilltoppers' off until the 80th minute of the game. Riana Soobadoo and Megan Anderson passed the ball down the line and sent a cross into the box for Mikayla Engel who headed the ball into the net.
The Hillcats were unable to find the equalizer, tallying just two shots in the contest. Although RSU allowed 14 shots on goal in the contest, the defense helped keep the ball out of the net by clearing the ball off the line on three occasions. Harris ended the night with 11 saves while taking the loss in the net. Danielle Licarione and Lorrie Santoy split time in the net for SEU, making two saves.
Rogers State (1-8-0) will return to action on Monday as RSU faces McMurry at Soldier Field with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m.
