No. 4 Stars Soar Past No. 13 Hillcat Women

OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 4-ranked Oklahoma City women's basketball team showed why they are ranked amongst the top teams in the NAIA as the No. 13 Rogers State Hillcats fell, 87-39, Thursday night inside Abe Lemons Arena.

In the opening 8:23 of the contest RSU was able to limit the Stars to a 10-6 lead and forced OCU to call a timeout. Coming off the break the Stars went on a 21-0 run over the next six minutes. At the intermission OCU led 47-18.

The second half saw the deficit grow to as much as 54 points but the Hillcats fought hard in the final 7:54 and outscored OCU 8-2 to close out the game.

Kelby Fritz led RSU with 10 points while Rician Walker tied a season high in minutes with 25 as the senior guard totaled eight points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Kayla MacKenzie led all scorers with 18 points as she came off the bench for OCU (13-2, 5-0) and was one of five Star players to total double-digit scoring.

RSU committed 36 turnovers allowing 16 steals for OCU.
