CLAREMORE, Okla. - Two second half goals propelled the Rogers State women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Missouri Valley on Saturday afternoon at Soldier Field.
Jordan Beasley put the Hillcats on the board in the 51st minute of the game as she headed the ball past the keeper off a corner kick by Veronica Subu.
The Vikings looked to equalize in the 75th minute as Yesica Hernandez dished the ball to Courtney Devlin who shot the ball first time but a diving save by RSU goalkeeper Jordan Harris kept MVC scoreless.
As soon as Rachel Coen entered the game she gave the Cats some insurance in the 80th minute as she battled through two defenders at the top of the box and blasted the ball past the keeper to give RSU a 2-0 advantage.
RSU posted 13 shots in the contest while putting 10 of them on frame. The Vikings put seven of their 12 shots on goal in the contest.
Harris registered the complete-game shutout in goal for RSU, making seven saves. Irene Sanchez suffered the loss for the Vikings allowing two goals while making eight saves.
With the victory, the Hillcats pushed their winning streak to seven-straight.
Rogers State (8-1) will return to action on Friday, September 28 as the Hillcats open Sooner Athletic Conference play at Soldier Field against No. 5 Oklahoma City University at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
