BETHANY, Okla. – The Rogers State women suffered its worst shooting game of the season as the Cats fell 63-51 to No. 15 Southern Nazarene inside the Sawyer Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Hillcats opened the first stanza up 4-0 but the Crimson Storm quickly took the lead with 14:47 remaining in the period off an Oumoul Thiam 3-pointer at 10-7. A Gianna Woods layup tied the contest at 12-12 with 11 minutes to go in the half. SNU went on a 25-10 run to enter the halftime locker room up 37-22 over the Cats.
SNU built a 44-24 lead in the opening four minutes of the second half. RSU slowly built its way back into the contest cutting the deficit to 50-40 with 7:32 on a lay-in by Rician Walker. The Cats wouldn't cut the SNU lead any closer as the Crimson Storm went onto the 63-51 victory.
Thiam led all scorers as the St. Louis, Senegal native tallied 20 points for SNU. Logan Martin finished with 16 points as Abbey Marra posted 11 points. The Crimson Storm shot 55.6 percent on treys.
Gianna Woods registered her seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Leah Smith finished with 10 points as only two Hillcats finished in double-digit scoring. The Hillcats shot 29 percent from the field and 18 percent from long distance. RSU hit only 13-of-25 from the charity stripe.
