CLAREMORE, Okla. – The No.8 Rogers State women's basketball team returned to the Claremore Expo after a five-game road stint in dominating fashion as the Hillcats cruised past Hillsdale College (Okla.) 84-39 on Thursday night.
Coach Roxanne Long's team crushed Hillsdale College on the boards and in the paint as the Cats out-rebounded the Saints by 26 boards and posted 38 points in the paint. Junior Clarissa Cannon tallied her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds while Rician Walker and Kelby Fritz rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 points apiece.
RSU used a 12-0 run midway through the first half to take a comfortable 29-12 lead with seven minutes to play. RSU took a 41-22 lead into the locker room at the break. RSU opened the second stanza with a 23-4 run that put the contest away.
Larrielle Giles tallied nine points and a career-high 12 rebounds while adding a steal and a block. All 12 RSU players contributed to the scoring column as the Hillcat bench tallied 53 points. RSU nabbed 16 steals on the night and held the Saints to shooting just 26 percent from the field.
Rogers State (7-1) returns to action at the Claremore Expo on Saturday as the Cats host NCAA Division II opponent Northwest Missouri State at 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on the Hillcat Network at www.rsuhillcats.com/live and on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
