EDMOND, Okla. – Rogers State women's basketball came away with a 62-54 victory inside the Eagles Nest over Oklahoma Christian on Thursday night.
RSU led by seven points with 7:39 to go but 3-pointers by Katy O'Steen and Logan McKee cut the Cats lead to one. An Andee Wayne free throw helped the Eagles diminish the seven point RSU lead to nothing in just 1:35.
That's when RSU closed out the final six minutes on a 13-5 run to secure the victory as OC never held the lead in the second half.
Leah Smith led the way for the Hillcats with 19 points. Logan Froese tallied 15 points and Madison Harris totaled a season high six points in 13 minutes of action.
The Hillcats led by two at the intermission 25-23 and outscored the Eagles in the paint 28-12 in the contest.
Katy O'Steen tallied 21 points for the Eagles to lead all scorers. Logan McKee totaled 11 points while Mackenzie Brown came off the bench to finish with to finish with 10. Oklahoma Christian (7-9, 2-7) hit 1-of-8 from behind the arc in the first half but turned things around in the second stanza knocking in 4-of-6 from long distance.
RSU shot just 23.1 percent from 3-point range and just 64.7 percent from the free throw line. The Hillcats outrebounded the Eagles 36-32.
Rogers State (11-6, 5-4) welcomes Northwestern Oklahoma State to the Claremore Expo on Saturday, Jan. 14. Game time is set for 3 p.m. and the game will be carried with live video streaming at www.rsuhillcats.com/live.
