MARSHALL, Mo. - The Rogers State men's soccer team dropped its first road match of the season 2-1 at No. 14 Missouri Valley College on Thursday evening.
The Viking scored first with a goal in the 24th minute. Eduardo Da Silva sent a corner kick into the box. Both teams scrambled for the ball and Pedro Franco found the back of the net.
However, MVC wouldn't hold onto the lead for long. RSU evened the score one minute later as freshman Mohammed Shaban scored his first collegiate goal off a pass from junior Gary Arauz.
David Flores registered the game-winning goal before halftime on a Vikings counter attack.
The Hillcats were unable to convert the tying goal in the second half. Jeremy Swift was tagged with the loss in goal as he allowed two goals while making three saves. Josh Wells received the win, allowing one goal.
Rogers State (1-1) will return to action at Soldier Field on Tuesday as they host Avila University at 4 p.m. The game will be broadcast live at www.rsuhillcats.com.
