OKLAHOMA CITY - The Rogers State women's soccer team's season came to an end at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening as top-seeded Oklahoma City University earned a 1-0 semifinal victory at Stars Field.
After battling the No. 14-ranked Stars to a scoreless draw in the opening half, the Hillcats gave up the game winning goal in the 66th minute of play. Sophomore Meghan McMahon crossed the ball into the box where it fell to the feet of fellow sophomore Blerta Rashica who scored her 13th goal of the season to give OCU the lead.
The Stars outshot the Hillcats 12-3, registering eight shots on frame. Sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea McMullin made seven saves, allowing just one goal. It was the fourth time this season the Hillcat women have lost a contest 1-0.
OCU earned the regular season SAC title as they compiled a 10-0-1 record in conference play. OCU will meet the No. 3-seed USAO in the championship match on Friday. The Drovers knocked off the No. 2 seed Southern Nazarene 2-0 to reach the finals for the first time in program history.
Rogers State (10-7-3, 6-4-1) ends the season with its fifth consecutive 10-win season. Seniors Shereen Clarke, Chelsea Myers and Abby Rickner ended their careers in Hillcat red and blue.
