Hillcats Battle Lady Bison to a Draw, 2-2

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's soccer team tied Oklahoma Baptist University 2-2 as neither team was able to score the go-ahead goal in the two overtime periods at Soldier Field on Saturday night.

RSU fell behind 2-0 in the opening half however, they battle back in the second stanza to score a pair of goals and send the game into overtime.

Senior Abby Rickner got the scoring started for the Hillcats. The Broken Arrow, Okla. native, curved the ball into the back side of the net from a corner kick. It was the defender's second goal of the season.

Rickner's goal ignited the Hillcat offense that out-shot OBU 16-5 in the second half. Nine of RSU's 16 shots after intermission were on frame.

Sophomore Melissa Subu registered the equalizer in the 72 minute of play. Again, it was a corner kick by Rickner that led to the goal. Rickner fired the ball into the box and Subu headed it past OBU goalkeeper Shannon Griffith.

RSU had several opportunities to take the lead but couldn't record the game-winning goal.  In the 77th minute senior Shereen Clarke blasted the ball from 20 yards out and it rattled off the back post.

With three minutes to play in the first overtime period freshman Jordan Beasley hit the crossbar. Beasley had the only good chance in the second overtime but it was saved by Griffith.

Both of the Lady Bison's goals game in the opening half. JJ Kosa scored the first goal in the 31st minute of play. She fired the shot from just outside the box and placed it right beneath the crossbar, out of reach for RSU goalkeeper Chelsea McMullin.

Kairuny Delahaye drilled the ball into the corner of the goal from 10 yards out to double OBU's lead going into intermission.

The tie runs the Hillcats unbeaten streak to five games. McMullin made seven saves while allowing two goals. Griffith made 12 saves for the Lady Bison while allowing a pair of goals.
