RSU Women's Soccer Defeats Friends 2-0

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State women's soccer team used two second half goals to win their home opener over Friends University (Kan.) on Friday evening at Soldier Field.

Shereen Clarke buried a pentalty kick in the 52nd minute to give the Hillcats a 1-0 advantage. Clarke leads the Hillcats in scoring on the year with three goals.

RSU dominated on offense the entire second half. Junior Chelsea Myers put the game away in the 60th minute, slotting the ball past Falcon goalkeeper Sarah Goldsmith. Freshman Devon Bullard assisted on the play, sending the ball into space over the defense for Myers to run onto. Myers transferred to RSU from Hutchison Community College; the goal was her first in a Hillcat uniform.

The Hillcats held the Falcons to just five shots on goal. Freshman Chelsea McMullin recorded her first shutout win of the season with five saves.

The RSU women's soccer team (2-0) will continue their homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 14 as they host Bethel College (Kan.) at Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
