CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State closed out a tough week of Sooner Athletic Conference action by dropping two games to No. 17 Oklahoma City Thursday evening at the Hillcat Complex in Claremore.

The Stars exploded for 17 hits in the opener and posted an 8-0 run-rule victory. OCU staked claim an early 4-0 lead in the nightcap and held the Cats in check for a 5-1 win to complete the sweep.

GAME ONE

OCU broke free from a scoreless tie with seven runs in the top of the fourth inning. Jen Davis put the Stars on the board with a solo home run to start the at-bat. Her teammates followed with seven more singles in the frame to make it 7-0.

Ashley Wilburn capped off the scoring barrage with a solo bomb in the top of the sixth to reach the final margin. Wilburn kept the Cats in check in the pitcher's circle, allowing just three hits in a complete-game performance.

Tye Coats suffered the loss after giving up seven runs on 12 hits in four innings of work. Lily LaVelle paced the OCU offense with three hits while freshman Ashlie Fauchier accounted for two of RSU's three hits.

GAME TWO

LaVelle followed Wilburn's lead and turned in another dominant pitching performance for OCU in the nightcap. She allowed just one unearned run on three hits over seven innings.

The Stars scored a run in the first inning on a single by Nathalie Temmermans and added two more in the third to make it 3-0. An unearned run pushed the advantage to 4-0 in the fourth before RSU finally broke through for its first run in the bottom of the inning. Brittany White doubled and scored on an error to make it 4-1, but the Cats were held off the scoreboard the rest of the way.

Coats (15-10) was tagged with her second loss of the day after giving up five runs on 12 hits. Kelby Roberson notched three hits for OCU while White, Linsey Curtis and Marie Gaudet accounted for the only RSU hits in the game.

Rogers State (22-12, 8-8) has lost six consecutive conference games since knocking off third-ranked Lubbock Christian last week. The Hillcats will take the weekend off before traveling to Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday.
